A formal complaint alleges a violation of the RSS Code of Ethics by a specific individual or individuals. Complaints cannot be anonymous<\/strong> and may lead to a formal investigation.<\/p>\n

Steps to File a Complaint:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    Provide Required Information<\/strong>
    Complete all fields in the form, including:<\/p>\n

    • The name and contact information of the individual(s) you are accusing.<\/li>\n
    • The specific provision(s) of the RSS Code of Ethics you believe were violated.<\/li>\n

      A report indicates a concern or violation of the Code of Ethics but does not initiate a formal investigation<\/strong>. Reports may be submitted confidentially.<\/p>\n

          What Happens Next<\/strong>

          \ud83d\udd12 Confidentiality<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          When you file a report<\/strong> (not a formal complaint), your identity as the reporter will be kept confidential within the Ethics Committee. Your identity will only be disclosed under the following circumstances:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • You explicitly grant permission<\/strong> (e.g., if other reporters wish to know who else has reported the same individual for bias or harassment).<\/li>\n
          • The Committee decides to pursue a formal investigation as outlined in the Policies and Procedures for the Ethics Committee<\/em>, Section VI.2.<\/li>\n
          • A valid subpoena or court order<\/strong> requires disclosure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            All reports are anonymized no later than three years<\/strong> from the date of filing. At that time, original reports are deleted, and all identifying information\u2014both of the reporter and the alleged violator\u2014is permanently expunged from the record.<\/p>\n

            \ud83d\udcca How This Information Will Be Used<\/strong><\/h3>\n

            Reports do not<\/strong> initiate investigations. However, they serve important purposes:<\/p>\n

              \n
            • Tracking the frequency of incidents<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
            • Informing decisions related to nominations for awards and positions<\/strong> within the society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              The Ethics Committee does not<\/strong> use report information outside of society matters\u2014unless the report is later used to initiate a formal complaint.<\/p>\n

              If you wish for your report to be formally investigated, you must file a formal complaint<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
