Eligibility<\/h3>

  • RSS graduate student members<\/li>\n
  • Research on any topic encompassed by the field of\u00a0<\/span>rural<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>sociology<\/li>\n
  • Society-wide, but interest groups are encouraged to nominate candidates<\/li>\n<\/ul> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

    Requirements<\/h3>
    \n
      \n
    • Cover letter explaining how the research will influence the applicant\u2019s future work related to\u00a0<\/span>rural<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>sociology<\/li>\n
    • Proposal (\u226410 pages) with budget and justification – 12-point font and 1\u201d margins to include:\n
        \n
      • well-defined problem statement<\/li>\n
      • abbreviated literature review<\/li>\n
      • section detailing research methods\u00a0<\/li>\n
      • work-plan schedule<\/li>\n
      • \u00a0itemized budget for the planned work<\/li>\n
      • \u00a0brief budget justification narrative that meets the following guidelines\n
          \n
        • equipment purchases are not permitted with endowment funds<\/li>\n
        • RSS will not pay overhead charges to the host institution of the recipient<\/li>\n
        • proposals may seek additional funding from other sources – the budget narrative must describe exactly which parts of the project would be supported by additional funds and which parts would be supported by RSS funds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • CV<\/li>\n
        • Faculty letter of support that addressed the project’s intellectual significance and the likelihood the dissertation work will be actively pursued during the academic year in which the award is made<\/li>\n<\/ul> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
