Eligibility<\/h3>
\n
    \n
  • Graduate students conducting social research\u00a0on food\/agriculture.<\/li>\n
  • RSS member<\/li>\n
  • Open to all nationalities\u00a0and non-sociologists\u00a0with a strong interest in the topic.<\/li>\n
  • Research must be approved by the student\u2019s institution.<\/li>\n
  • Only one award\u00a0is granted per year.<\/li>\n<\/ul> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

    Requirements<\/h3>
    \n
      \n
    • Cover letter explaining how their thesis\/dissertation\/research will influence the applicant\u2019s future work related to food and agriculture<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Proposal (\u22645 pages) with budget and justification – 12-point font and 1\u201d margins to include:\n
        \n
      • well-defined problem statement<\/li>\n
      • abbreviated literature review<\/li>\n
      • section detailing research methods\u00a0<\/li>\n
      • work-plan schedule<\/li>\n
      • pland for dissemination of findings<\/li>\n
      • \u00a0itemized budget for the planned work<\/li>\n
      • \u00a0brief budget justification narrative that meets the following guidelines\n
          \n
        • equipment purchases are not permitted with endowment funds<\/li>\n
        • RSS will not pay overhead charges to the host institution of the recipient<\/li>\n
        • proposals may seek additional funding from other sources – the budget narrative must describe exactly which parts of the project would be supported by additional funds and which parts would be supported by RSS funds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

        • Faculty letter of support that addresses the project’s intellectual significance and the likelihood the thesis\/dissertation work will be actively pursued during the academic year in which the award is made<\/li>\n<\/ul> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
