Our members engage in research that advances understanding of how individuals, communities, institutions, and governments interact with the natural environment in rural and urban contexts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"936\" data-end=\"1292\">The group fosters interdisciplinary collaboration on topics such as land use, water governance, climate change adaptation, energy transitions, conservation, environmental justice, and sustainability. We:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1504\" data-end=\"1911\">\n<li data-start=\"1504\" data-end=\"1618\">\n<p data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"1618\">Organize paper sessions and roundtables on key topics in natural resource sociology at the RSS Annual Meeting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1619\" data-end=\"1702\">\n<p data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1702\">Create opportunities for members to network and collaborate across disciplines.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1800\">\n<p data-start=\"1705\" data-end=\"1800\">Encourage student and early-career participation through mentorship and inclusive engagement.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"1911\">\n<p data-start=\"1803\" data-end=\"1911\">Facilitate discussions around timely issues such as environmental governance, justice, and climate policy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1913\" data-end=\"2177\">We welcome anyone with an interest in the sociological study of natural resources to join the RIG.
